dominant character

dominant character
dominant character,
the one of any pair of contrasting characters that prevails in an animal or plant when both are present in the germ plasm. Example: If a child inherits one gene for brown eyes from its mother, and one gene for blue eyes from its father, it will have brown eyes, as brown eyes are dominant and blue eyes are recessive.
